Cottage Dining Room and Collections

" This was my FAVORITE DINING ROOM I ever decorated!!! The paint on the walls is called Secret Garden Green!!! My Dad made the Cupboard from a Vintage Window about 18 years ago!!! He is still making them today, when I find him Vintage Windows!!! The shelf above the window is actually the base footings that once held a huge glass front display case in a Late 1800's General Store from Monticello, Iowa. I painted it white, took off the back 3 legs, left the front 3 legs on for conversation and TADA!!! A unique one of a kind shelf!!!!"
"My Vintage Bride Addiction!!!".

" I picked up a used, but sturdy, ottoman at a second hand store for about $20.00. Using a vintage blue chenille as the main focus, I fashioned a slipcover to coordinate with the rest of my family room."

Cozy Cottage Porch

"Well, here are the pictures of my favorite room.

The cupboard with the linens is one I got from a garage sale....I just washed it and put it in...I love the old paint and the color is perfect....it shows off my 40's tablecloths pretty well.

The pink corner with the rocker is my favorite ....the little pink cupboard was one I found last summer when I drove by an antique shop and saw it sitting outside. It was 103 degrees out and they were anxious to sell something so I threw it in my car and have just loved it ever since.

The rocker was one I found in a lady's barn and had new rockers put on it and cushions made..."

"I happened upon this mantel at a small local flea market and it was too cheap to pass up (under 50.00).
Completely undaunted by the fact that I didn't HAVE a fireplace, I knew I would find a spot for it. LOL

Half of its paint had already been stripped, so it just need to be sanded and re-painted.

I fitted the opening with a piece of plywood covered in foam and batting and then hunted through my fabric stash for the perfect piece of vintage fabric.

Ahhh…What a beautiful way to start and end my day!"(Compliments of Me, Kim Niesz, Ohio)

Once Vintage Damask...Now Chic Camisole Tops

"I've been collecting vintage fabric for many years...Locally, I have found beautiful 1930's brocades and damasks.
I used the fabric for pillow backs on my barkcloth pillows. However, I ended up with boxes of vintage damask over time.
When the camisole craze kicked in a couple years ago, It hit me! The heavier weight of the vintage damask was much more modest than the slinky, nylon negligee fabrics used now.

They are so great worn beneath a blazer or with jeans.
I've started using new rayon. But, I embellish the new fabric with vintage ribbon and corded lace. I sell them to boutiques owners and at artisan shows along with jewelry and pillows I make."
( Karen also sells beautiful items and vintage fabrics through her Ebay store, Topiary Tree.)

"This is my guestroom. It took a while to find the perfect shade of blue/green for the walls, but it was worth the effort...I love it.

The room was put together on a tight budget. The headboard and night stand were Goodwill finds that were given a fresh coat of paint and glass knobs. I found the mirror on sale at a local antique store, it too, was painted white and small shades were added to the sidelights.

The vintage chenille bedspread was probably the best bargain...only 10.00 at the flea market!
And I love my little pottery birds, the parakeet wall pocket is my favorite."
